BelegBlitz is a GDPR-compliant receipt and invoice scanner. It automatically extracts data from your receipts using AI or local OCR processing. All data is stored on EU servers (Scaleway, France) and you have full control over your data at all times.

Click Log In in the top right corner, then select Sign Up. Enter your name, email address, and a password. You will receive a verification email to confirm your account.

For receipts and invoices:

• PDF documents
• Images: PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF, TIFF

For bank statements:

• CSV, XLSX, and MT940 formats

Go to the Dashboard and either upload a receipt file directly, or connect an email account to automatically import receipts from your inbox.

Yes. Go to Email Accounts to connect your mailbox. BelegBlitz supports:

• Gmail via OAuth (recommended)
• Outlook / Microsoft 365 via OAuth
• Any IMAP email provider (manual setup)

Once connected, BelegBlitz can scan selected folders for receipt attachments.

The interface is available in German and English. Use the DE/EN toggle in the navigation bar to switch. Receipt extraction supports German and English documents via Tesseract OCR.

BelegBlitz uses a three-tier extraction system:

• Ollama (local AI) - Runs entirely on the server, no data leaves your infrastructure
• Mistral Cloud - Cloud AI fallback when local AI is unavailable
• Regex / OCR - Local Tesseract OCR with pattern matching as final fallback

The system automatically tries each tier in order until extraction succeeds.

AI extraction uses large language models (like OpenAI GPT-4o) to read and understand your receipt text. It achieves higher accuracy than traditional OCR but requires sending the receipt text to external servers. You must explicitly enable AI extraction and give GDPR consent in Settings.

Yes. You can disable AI extraction in Settings and use only local Tesseract OCR processing. No data will leave your server. This is the default if you have not given AI consent.

BelegBlitz extracts:

• Merchant / vendor name
• Total amount and currency
• Date of purchase
• Tax rate and tax amount
• Expense category
• Individual line items (when available)

Accuracy depends on the extraction method:

• AI extraction: 85-95% accuracy
• Local OCR with regex: 70-80% accuracy

We recommend always reviewing extracted data before using it for accounting. You can edit any field directly in the receipt detail view.

Yes. Click any receipt in the Receipts library to open it. You can edit all extracted fields including merchant name, amount, date, tax, and category.

Go to the Export page to download your receipts in various formats including CSV and accounting exports (DATEV, BMD).

BelegBlitz offers token-based pricing. Every new account receives free tokens each month. For higher volumes, you can purchase token packs:

• 100k Tokens
• 500k Tokens
• 2M Tokens

Tokens are processing units consumed each time BelegBlitz extracts data from a receipt. Different extraction methods use different amounts of tokens. AI-powered extraction typically uses more tokens than local OCR processing.

When your token balance reaches zero, receipt extraction will pause. You can purchase additional token packs from the Billing page to continue processing. Your existing receipts and data remain fully accessible.

Visit the Billing page and select a token pack. Payment is processed securely via Stripe.

You can manage your subscription, update payment methods, and view invoices through the Stripe Customer Portal. Access it from the Billing page.

Yes, all prices and invoices are in EUR. Payments are processed via Stripe.

Yes. BelegBlitz is fully GDPR-compliant:

• All data is stored in the EU (Scaleway, France)
• AI processing requires explicit consent
• You can export or delete all your data at any time
• All data processing activities are logged in the audit trail

All data is stored on Scaleway servers in France (EU). If you enable AI extraction, receipt text is temporarily sent to AI provider servers for processing but is not stored permanently. OpenAI retains data for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring as per their DPA.

The default data retention period is 10 years (as required by Austrian and German tax law). You can adjust this in your Settings. Audit logs are retained for 1 year.

Yes. Under GDPR Article 20 (Right to Data Portability), you can export all your data. Go to Settings and use the data export function to download a complete JSON file of all your receipts, transactions, and account data.

Yes. Under GDPR Article 17 (Right to Erasure), you can permanently delete your account and all associated data. Go to Settings and use the Delete Account option. This action is irreversible.

Only the extracted text from your receipt (maximum 10,000 characters) is sent to OpenAI for processing. No email metadata, file names, or personal information is included. This only happens if you have explicitly enabled AI extraction and given GDPR consent. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

The Audit Log records all data processing activities including receipt uploads, AI extractions, data exports, and account changes.
